Peacock Grove Rug

A story told in wool. Teal peacocks, small birds and deer wander through a lush olive-green grove of trees and peach blossoms. Every corner of the rug has something new to discover.

The pictorial tradition

Pictorial rugs, with animals, birds and trees, were made as showpieces by master weavers, because every figure must be drawn knot by knot. The peacock, a symbol of beauty and good fortune in India, is the star of this design.

Hand-knotted, knot by knot

Our artisans in India tie every knot by hand on a vertical loom, row by row, then wash and shear the rug for a soft hand and a gentle sheen. Because each knot is tied through the foundation, the pattern shows clearly on the back, the surest sign of a genuine hand-knotted rug. Read hand-tufted vs hand-knotted rugs to see the difference.

Which size should I choose?

In a living room, choose a rug large enough for at least the front legs of your sofa and chairs: 8×10 ft suits most rooms and 9×12 ft larger, open-plan spaces. Under a dining table, allow about 60 cm (24 in) beyond the table on every side. In a bedroom, 5×8 ft works across the lower part of a queen bed and 8×10 ft under a king. See our rug size guide.

Styling the Peacock Grove

Make it the centrepiece of a living room, study or dining room. It sings with dark wood, brass, velvet in teal or ochre, and plenty of greenery.

Caring for your rug

  • Vacuum regularly on a low setting, without the beater bar.
  • Rotate every 6 months so the rug wears and fades evenly.
  • Avoid long periods of direct sunlight, which can fade natural dyes.
  • Use a rug pad to keep it in place and protect the knots.
  • Professional cleaning every 1–3 years; blot spills straight away with a clean, dry cloth.

CARE

Vacuum regularly on a low-suction setting without a beater bar. Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth — never rub. For deep cleaning, professional rug cleaning is recommended every 12–18 months. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to prevent fading. Rotate the rug every 6–12 months for even wear.

Stain-Resistant Coating Protection

Extend the life of your rug

Stain-Resistant Coating

For homes that are made to be lived in, our invisible protective coating shields your rug from spills — without changing its look or feel. Liquid beads up on the surface so you can blot it away before it ever becomes a stain.

All about stain resistant coating

Common questions

The treatment remains effective for 2–3 years under normal household use. It can be refreshed by a professional rug cleaner whenever needed.

It repels most water-based spills and gives you more time to blot before staining. Oil-based spills and deeply pigmented liquids should still be cleaned promptly to avoid marks.

We apply the coating in our studio before your rug is shipped, so it arrives protected and ready to use. No bottles, no mess, no guesswork.

◆ Size & Placement

Find the right fit for every room.

Living Room

Living Room

A rug grounds your seating arrangement and defines the living space. As a rule, all front legs of sofas and chairs should sit on the rug.

Studio tip In open-plan spaces, use the rug to define the seating zone — treat it like a floor-plan boundary.
